Worrying update to Mo Salah chase: FSG stubbornness could ruin deal

We knew we were going to come back to earth with a bang at some point, following yesterday’s news that we’re expected to sign Virgil Van Dijk and are close to completing the Mo Salah deal…

Today, it’s emerged that despite the Egyptian agreeing £90k personal terms with Liverpool, the two clubs are no closer to deciding a fee, with FSG refusing to pay what they consider ‘over the odds’ for the 19-goal 24-year-old.

We had an official £28m bid rejected last week, but according to the Echo, no further talks have taken place and Liverpool will walk away from the deal if Roma don’t agree to a fair price.

Multiple reports, such as this one in Telegraph, suggested a £35m fee would be enough to get Salah signed, but Liverpool have not submitted an official second offer for the former Chelsea man.

We’re surprised, as the club yesterday announced that there’ll be a significant press-conference on Friday morning – with many expecting the double confirmation of Salah and Van Dijk.

Now, it looks like it’ll be a waiting game. Considering Salah’s stats though, £35m seems fair, to us. Hopefully, FSG won’t cut their noses off to spite their face. We need to spend whatever it takes to provide Jurgen Klopp the tools necessary to mount a challenge on all fronts next term.
