LFC to break £35m transfer record imminently [Telegraph]

Liverpool will very soon wrap up a deal for Mo Salah, which will break our £35m transfer record, which has stood since our bizarre purchase of Andy Carroll in 2011.

Chris Bascombe in the Telegraph writes that an agreement is close, with Liverpool ‘ready’ to pay the fee required to release the Egyptian from his Roma contract.

The Italians initially wanted £40m, but a fee of £35m plus add-ons should be enough to secure the 25-year-old’s services.

Roma sporting director has admitted a deal is on the table, while the same report suggests Salah himself has already set his heart on a move – (perhaps not surprising considering we’re doubling his wages to £90k/week).

On top of the Salah deal, Bascombe is adamant that the new few weeks will see new faces arriving on Merseyside.

“Despite the setback of the Virgil Van Dijk furore last week, Liverpool will be among the most active in the transfer market over the next few months,” he said.

As well as the wing-forward, Jurgen Klopp requires a left-back, a centre-back and a central midfielder ahead of 2017/18, where we’ll be competing in the Champions League providing we navigate a Play-Off round.

Van Dijk, Naby Keita and Benjamin Mendy are the first-choices, but we’d be lucky to get one of those names and all three seems an impossibility right now.
