Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is back on the market, Reds.
PSG have pulled out of their proposed £70m deal for the world-class Borussia Dortmund striker because manager Unai Emery wants to spend the money on a controlling midfielder instead, reports Bild.
The Germans had conceded Auba was off, with the 28-year-old holidaying in Paris recently, but Emery’s change of heart means the transfer won’t happen.
In the past three seasons, Aubameyang has scored 25, 39 and 40 goals respectively, earmarking himself as one of the planet’s most feared marksman.

Liverpool are in need of a new forward, with Daniel Sturridge’s injury problems well publicised. Roberto Firmino does a terrific job as a false-9, but doesn’t score enough goals and is better suited to a freer attacking midfield position.
Aubameyang would be a tremendous coup for any potential suitor, with the Mirror suggesting Manchester United could turn to him if they fail to get Alvaro Morata over the line.
Many will consider Auba out of Liverpool’s league, but we’ve qualified for the Champions League and are managed by Jurgen Klopp, a man he has a very close relationship with from our boss’s time at Dortmund.
If Liverpool were willing to spend £60m on 12-cap Virgil van Dijk, would £70m for one of the world’s very best strikers not also be within our budget…? After all, reports suggested we were happy to pay that sum for the Dutch defender and that Klopp has a war-chest at his disposal.
If he really does have the eye-opening figures that have been mooted available, we could do much worse than at least test the waters for Dortmund’s sensational forward.
