Liverpool are on the verge of completing the most expensive deal in the history of the club.

Mo Salah is flying to England today to finalise his Merseyside switch and is expected to undergo a medical tomorrow.

The Times confirm that a fee around £39m is likely, with £90k/week personal terms agreed weeks back.

Now, according to Egyptian outlet El Alhy, who’ve not got many things wrong regarding the transfer saga so far, Salah will wear Liverpool’s no.9.

Its last four incumbents have been Christian Benteke, Rickie Lambert, Iago Aspas and Andy Carroll, so we really hope it gives the 24-year-old considerably more luck!

Before Aspas, Fernando Torres donned the no.9, with Djibril Cisse, El Hadji Diouf, Nicolas Anelka, Robbie Fowler and Ian Rush before him.

In this respect, Salah will be the first winger to ever wear the no.9 for Liverpool, although Diouf and Aspas were often shafted to the flanks.

The flyer scored 19 goals last term though, so if he can register figures like this for Liverpool, he’ll have proven more than worthy!
