Likely Liverpool left-back signing finally emerges: 20-year-old, 4 caps, United target

Liverpool’s primary targets for the positions that need strengthening have been made very, very clear for months now.

We’re about to wrap up a deal for Mo Salah, who’ll provide us the pace and goals we desperately need out wide. Jurgen Klopp wants Virgil van Dijk at centre-back and Naby Keita in midfield, with movement expected on both these players after the Egyptian winger is announced…

But since we pulled out of the race for Ryan Sessegnon, there’s been very little said on which left-back we’ll sign, despite it being a priority position to bolster.

Alberto Moreno is set to leave, meaning James Milner needs competition at the back.

According to Dave Maddock in the Mirror, Celtic’s 20-year-old sensation Kieran Tierney is a potential arrival.

The talented fullback was watched by Manchester United and Arsenal scouts during England’s draw with Scotland the other week, having enjoyed a superb domestic campaign under Brendan Rodgers.

Tierney has a sweet left-foot, and it may be smart to acquire him now to avoid a massive future fee, as it was for Southampton when buying van Dijk and Victor Wanyama.

Maddock also mentions Hull’s Andrew Robertson, who in truth, we’d be less inspired by having seen him a few times last term.
