Liverpool fans didn’t hang around to flood Twitter with excited responses following the news that Naby Keita reportedly wants to leave RB Leipzig.
The Guinean boasts a place at the top of Jurgen Klopp’s wishlist as the club’s priority midfield target and one of many high-profile players Liverpool are keen on signing this summer.
Initial reports on Monday revealed that Leipzig had slapped a £70million price-tag on the 22-year-old before further developments suggested that the player himself has said he wants to leave the German side.
A focus towards Liverpool’s pursuit of Keita has been somewhat elevated since the £36.9million capture of Mohamed Salah on Thursday with the Bundesliga star seemingly the next in line to be subject to an official approach.
News of Leipzig’s asking-price has also sparked talk of the idea the Reds could launch a £140million pursuit of both Keita and Southampton’s Virgil van Dijk, who is also valued at £70million.
Supporters were quick to express their delight towards what many deem as significant progress…
