Liverpool finally make official approach for Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain

Liverpool have looked to take full advantage of Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s stalling contract talks at Arsenal by launching an official approach for the Englishman.

The Reds have followed up their interest and finally sent a direct enquiry to Arsenal regarding the midfielder, according to the Mirror.

The 23-year-old could be available for £25million with recent reports suggesting he is keen on leaving the Emirates this summer having been frustrated by delayed negotiations over a new deal with the London club.

Anfield has also recently been tipped as the wantaway player’s most likely destination seemingly thanks to the attractive prospect of working with Jurgen Klopp.

Interest in Oxlade-Chamberlain stems from the Liverpool boss’ appreciation for the pace, power and versatility designed to help him thrive in the team’s current setup.

Though he has predominantly featured in a wide role throughout his Arsenal career, the former Southampton starlet is keen on a future as a central midfielder- something Klopp’s 4-3-3 formation could give him a better opportunity of pursuing.

45 appearances in all competitions as well as six goals and 11 assists worked in unison with a number of impressive performances in helping him become a standout figure in what was a mixed season for Arsenal.

A move elsewhere appears likely to be the next step in his career with Klopp eyeing up the England international as an all-action utility man capable of carrying out a range of jobs and adding an explosive outlet to his midfield.
