What LFC need to offer £25m man to force through transfer

Arsenal will consider offers of £25m for versatile 23-year-old Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

That’s according to multiple respected reports, including this one by James Pearce in the Echo.

He reckons The OX has no intention of extending his contract, largely due to the £80k/week wages Arsenal have offered him – which is not a large increase on what he’s currently on.

However, not only will Liverpool need to meet Arsenal’s demands and offer a heftier wage packet, but the talented youngster will need assurances regarding position and playing time ahead of the 2018 World Cup.

Oxlade-Chamberlain’s progression has stunted under Arsene Wenger due to the Frenchman rotating him incessantly, but there’s no guarantee he’d be an automatic starter at Liverpool with the likes of Jordan Henderson, Emre Can, Gini Wijnaldum, Adam Lallana and Coutinho all competing for central midfield spots.

Manchester City and Chelsea also want him, but they’d surely similarly struggle to start him every week.

Naby Keita remains Klopp’s primary target for this area, and we’d speculate that Oxlade-Chamberlain may only be approached as backup to the Guinean, who Red Bull Leipzig are holding very tightly to.
