Keita has returned to Leipzig ‘one week early’ to force Liverpool move

Naby Keita is back in Leipzig one before he was due to return for pre-season, with the sole intention of convincing his club he wants to leave, reports German outlet Bild, translated by the Echo.

The 22-year-old has his heart set on an Anfield switch, but with Red Bull Leipzig openly refusing to sell, Keita has to let them know he no longer wants to play for last season’s Bundesliga overachievers.

RB Leipzig don’t need our money, but Keita has a £48m release-clause which becomes active next summer, so they’ll hopefully recognise that it might be sensible to cash in now – especially when Liverpool are willing to pay up to £70m for his services.

We’ve not submitted an official bid yet and Keita has not sat down with his club’s officials, but by the end of this week – that’s set to change on both counts.

Keita is one of the most promising young midfielders on the planet, possessing a unique set of attributes that makes him devastating in attack and defence.

If we were to capture the Guinean and nobody else this summer, it would still be a fairly successful window having already secured Mo Salah.
