The 82-goal, £65million man himself hails Liverpool move as dream come true

The undeniably world class Luis Suarez has been at hand to remind all of what a prestigious club Liverpool remains to be, reflecting on his move to Anfield as beyond his imagination.

January 2011 saw the Uruguayan join Liverpool from Ajax for £22.7million- a fee that Reds can now happily look back on as an incredible bargain.

Suarez would go on to score 82 goals in 133 appearances and earn the right to be considered as one of the most prolific and feared strikers in world football.

His remarkable contributions in a Liverpool shirt rightly earned him a £65million move to Barcelona in 2014, where he has since won the Champions League, two La Liga titles and three Copas del Rey.

The 30-year-old has hailed his move to Merseyside as a dream come true, explaining how the decision to join was an absolute no-brainer.

“When I was little, Liverpool was one of the biggest clubs in Europe and was renowned throughout the world,” he told Liverpoolfc.com.

“So when I found out about the club’s interest in me I was never in doubt because it’s the dream for any player. I never imagined that I would get the chance to play there.”

“At Anfield, the fans get right behind you come what may. The affection that they show to you is just so special, which in turn makes you lift up your head and respond, rather than letting it drop a little.”

“For me, this is just what the Liverpool fans have.”

Though he didn’t manage to deliver a Premier League title, despite coming incredibly close, Suarez went someway towards proving himself as one of the most gifted players this club has seen, not to mention English football overall.

Not only did he showcase a relatively unrivalled technical ability, but he injected an aggression and hunger that saw fans grow to adore him and Suarez himself translate the club’s historic pride and passion into performances.

Without a doubt, one of the best Reds have ever seen grace the Anfield turf.
