Coutinho’s comments prove he absolutely wants to stay at LFC

Coutinho is looking forward to Liverpool’s season and is happy to be back at Melwood following his holiday.

The Brazilian has been linked with PSG this summer, but there’s no way Liverpool would even consider selling our best player to the French – regardless of transfer fee.

More importantly, it doesn’t look like our 25-year-old would have any intention of joining the Ligue 1 giants anyway.

In an interview with Liverpoolfc.com, Coutinho said:

“I am very happy to be back here and I am ready to start pre-season.”

“I had a very good summer with my family and friends in Brazil and had enough time to rest and enjoy it. To be honest, it was not that hot there… but still a little bit warmer than here!”

“But it was nice to come back in and see my teammates here today. I am not training with them yet, but soon I will be back with them and I am looking forward to that.”

“I am working; every day I try to improve and I hope this season I can do even better than the last season,” he continued. “I am always aiming to improve.

“It was a good season. Of course, we wanted to win something, but we are ready here to start again to do everything to have a better season.”

“Everyone has big confidence and this is the key for the players. I am confident – I think everyone is.”

PSG do not threaten us, in truth. They’re a mega-rich club, but play in an inferior league and bar recent success, are a smaller club than Liverpool.

The only team who we believe could properly convince Coutinho is Barcelona, but they couldn’t afford him and already have Neymar and Andres Iniesta who play in his two positions: left wing-forward and central playmaker.

If Coutinho stays fit in 2017/18, we’re convinced he’ll make the jump from a superb performer into a genuinely world-class one. From a deeper, more creative role, Jurgen Klopp hopes he’ll add ideas to the midfield. If the South American can better his 14-goal return from last season as well, Liverpool will enjoy a spectacular season.
