Why Mo Salah has made odd trip to France & won’t play tonight

Liverpool fans hoping to see Mo Salah against Tranmere tonight will unfortunately be disappointed, as visa regulations prevent our Egyptian signing from playing.

The Echo claim that he’s now in Paris, as immigration rules state non-EU workers need to leave the country for 24 hours and re-enter once official paperwork has been processed.

However, providing everything goes to plan, Salah will be eligible to make his pre-season debut against Wigan on Friday – so supporters won’t have to wait too long.

The former Roma star is so far our only major transfer of the summer, with Liverpool struggling to bring in our three primary targets: Naby Keita, Virgil van Dijk and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.

While Salah will bring pace, goals and added depth to our frontline, it’s imperative we bolster the defence – the area which arguably cost us a genuine title chase in 2016/17. A centre-back and a left-back are essential, but time will tell if Klopp gets his primary targets over the line.
