Brazilian defender reveals Liverpool have contacted him; explains his rejection

One left-back who certainly won’t be joining Liverpool this summer is Dalbert Henrique, who has gone someway towards explaining his next career move.

The Nice defender was recently identified as a potential alternative to Hull City’s Andrew Robertson, who is now close to sealing an £8million move to Anfield.

Henrique represents one of many options Liverpool have seemingly considered as Jurgen Klopp seeks a long term solution to his side’s left-back situation.

The 23-year-old now looks set to join Inter Milan and has confirmed he did in fact turn down an approach by Liverpool.

“My agent was contacted by over 10 European clubs, including Liverpool and Inter, who progressed in their desire to have me in the squad,” Henrique said on the Fair Play Assessoria Facebook.

“Inter made a proposal that I find to be irresistible and I think over the next few days we can have a happy outcome for everyone.”

Tenuous reports made the Brazilian an admittedly unlikely target although his confirmation of interest does pose the question as to whether Robertson is in fact Liverpool’s first choice option.

Nevertheless, the Scotland international promises the all-important Premier League experience and very clearly has the faith of Jurgen Klopp, thereby giving fans good reason to believe he is capable of being a success.
