Hull City want Liverpool starlet; hoping Robertson deal can sweeten the Reds up

Hull City are seeking a loan deal for one of Liverpool’s promising youth stars as a small favour for allowing Andrew Robertson to join the Reds.

Ryan Kent has emerged as a target for Leonid Slutsky’s side ahead of their first season back in the Championship, following their relegation from the Premier League, according to the Liverpool Echo.

With Robertson closing in on an £8million move to Anfield, the Tigers are hoping this will help them in their efforts to land the winger.

Kent spent the whole of last season in England’s second tier where he enjoyed a productive loan spell with Barnsley, but has recently returned to Liverpool for pre-season as he looks to prove himself to Jurgen Klopp.

The 20-year-old has continued to reaffirm a desire to fight for his place on Merseyside, although the likelihood is that he will be sent out on another temporary deal along with Sheyi Ojo, who is a reported target for both Newcastle and Middlesbrough.

While a loan move would be a valuable opportunity for him to gain additional first team experience, it would be interesting to see how much progress he could also make were he to stay with Liverpool and play an entire season in the U23s side.

Doing so has already proven to be a useful stepping stone with the likes of Ben Woodburn and Trent Alexander-Arnold having earned opportunities in the senior team via this route.

Wednesday’s friendly against Tranmere served as a nice reminder of what a raw and exciting talent Kent is, suggesting he is more than worthy of the time to impress his manager.
