Liverpool’s Premier League rivals contact Naby Keita… the Guinean reacts superbly

It was beginning to seem bizarre that none of Liverpool’s Premier League rivals had expressed an interest in Naby Keita but it seems the Reds have finally been given some, albeit short-lived, competition.

That said, the Reds certainly won’t be welcoming any new challengers to add to what has already emerged as a complicated deal- being made all the more difficult by the firm stance being taken by RB Leipzig’s sporting director Ralph Rangnick.

Manchester City have made contact with Keita’s agent, but the midfielder has reiterated that he wants a move to Liverpool, according to Foot224 journalist Amadou Makadji.

Liverpool look set to intensify their pursuit of Keita next week by launching a second offer of around £65million having seen their opening bid of £57million rejected by the Bundesliga club.

A deal is looking increasingly possible with Leipzig themselves appearing more open to approaches near to their reported £70million asking price.

Breaking the club’s transfer record fee for a second time this summer is well within Klopp’s powers having been granted the largest budget in Liverpool’s history.

Keita’s notable desire to seal an Anfield switch also sets the Reds in good stead to sign their priority target and serves as a nice reminder of what an attractive prospect the club has again become.
