Ancelotti makes wonderful point about Klopp’s LFC in Champions League

The manager of tonight’s friendly opponent Bayern Munich, Carlo Ancelotti, has delivered high praise on Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, suggesting he wants us to get through our Champions League Play-Off match to increase the quality of the tournament.

Mixed news on new Coutinho €100m offer, but we know who we’re believing…

The legendary Italian coach was speaking alongside Klopp at a press-conference before the start of the Audi Cup, a friendly competition in which we’re taking on Bayern first up this evening.

If anyone knows how dangerous Liverpool can be in Europe, it’s Ancelotti of course!

Klopp’s Borussia Dortmund teams were always a joy to watch in the Champions League, coming so close to the title in 2013 when they just lost out to Bayern at Wembley.

With Liverpool, he came within inches of winning the Europa League too, so providing we can navigate the Play-Off (we find out the opponents on Friday…), we’re confident we can enjoy a successful campaign and at least make it through the Group Stage.

The Round of 16 would possibly be par, but based on Klopp’s ability to navigate two-legged fixtures, we’d hope for more.

The match against Bayern tonight though will be our biggest test of pre-season so far. They’re a wonderful side and an upgrade on what we’ve faced.

But so were Barcelona last summer when we won 4-0…
