Klopp sends final, irritated message to Barcelona

Liverpool are sending out more firm messages to Barcelona RE Coutinho than even Rb Leipzig sent us regarding Naby Keita…

Neither, are for sale, regardless of price.

Which means while we’re not getting our no.1 midfield target this summer, Barcelona aren’t getting theirs either.

In an interview with Sky Germany, Klopp said: “Liverpool is not a club that has to sell players. That is set in stone. So what they pay in the end doesn’t matter.

“From a financial standpoint, there is no price limit to let him go. No price at which we are ready to give in.

“Our goal is to have the best possible team. So we want to keep our guys and add new ones. That is our plan.”

The Liverpool manager added: “Today, no player on the planet is untouchable. But a transfer is also a question of timing and if you have the opportunity and the need to react to such a transfer.

“Also you have to ask, if you have the time to react. But just because of one request of one club, we don’t have to think about that. We are not in that situation.”

That’s about as firm a statement as is necessary, we hope. Barcelona are reportedly willing to add another £20m to the fee until it reaches around £109m, but if we’re turning down £90m out of hand, what’s the allure of the slightly enhanced figure?

Coutinho is worth more to us than money. Keeping him represents our stance as a club moving in the right direction and one that will not be bullied by Spanish behemoths.

With our Brazilian playmaker, we have a chance of genuine silverware this term, which again, cannot be valued in terms of finance.

Coutinho is staying at Liverpool – and in truth – we can’t wait for this transfer window to be over so that fact is set in stone.
