Barcelona hilariously cancel Coutinho unveiling

This is rather poetic, in our opinion.

Barcelona have had to cancel their grand plans to unveil Coutinho at the Nou Camp, after they realised that Liverpool were not lying about our Brazilian being ‘not for sale’.

This feels like we’re writing a satirical piece, but we’re genuinely not!

The Catalans were that confident of securing our no.10, that plans had been drawn up to present Coutinho to fans and media today – despite the fact that no fee had been agreed with Liverpool…

If we took our ‘tapping up’ too far with Virgil van Dijk, this surely takes the biscuit…

James Pearce of the Echo confirmed as much via his Twitter account.

Thankfully, it seems our Spanish counterparts, who have previously taken Javier Mascherano and Luis Suarez off our hands, have finally realised that ‘no means no’.

Coutinho, with five years on his contract, may be tempted by arguably the world’s biggest club and the chance to play alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez in the sun (who wouldn’t be?), but importantly – he’s not kicking up a fuss and completely accepts Liverpool’s decision.

If they’re really keen on today’s unveiling, perhaps they can offer around £13m and take Ragnar Klavan – to appease supporters.
