Coutinho’s transfer request email

Posted by

Coutinho handed in a transfer request at 1PM today, emailed directly to Sporting Director Michael Edwards.

The Brazilian arrived at Melwood as usual, after Sky Sports reported this morning that a request had already been handed in. Liverpool denied this was the case, but by lunchtime, Coutinho had alerted the club’s hierarchy of his intentions – confirming our worst fears.

Liverpool though immediately and formally rejected it though, keeping the same stance which was projected this morning in FSG’s ‘Not for sale’ statement.

Confirmed: Coutinho asks to leave Liverpool; FSG reject request 😐

To send an email the day before the season starts is poor form, in our eyes, but definitely shows how much our brilliant playmaker wants to move to Barcelona, who’ve already had two offers flatly rejected.

They’ve clearly been in his ear for six months; despite the fact he signed a massive contract extension in January – which conveniently for us – doesn’t include a release-clause.

There’s still 20 days left of this gruesome transfer window to go.

It’s not going to be fun.
