‘Never has such tepid mediocrity become accepted’ – Reds fume over Watford result

It wasn’t the draw away to Watford that has angered Liverpool fans so much but rather the manner in which Jurgen Klopp’s men failed to secure all three points.

The Reds endured a demoralising and somewhat infuriating start to the new Premier League season, conceding a 93rd minute equaliser at Vicarage Road and having to settle for one point as the game ended 3-3.

Defensive frailties that hurt Liverpool so dearly last season were exposed, much to the frustration of fans once again questioning what has been done to rectify this club’s main issue.

From an attacking perspective, Klopp’s side were unsurprisingly outstanding going forward at times and made three goals against a stern Watford defence look like easy work.

A goal-scoring trio of Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah saw their impressive work, ultimately, unrewarded by Liverpool’s sheer inability to defend against set pieces- the source of Watford’s late leveller.

A draw felt very much like a defeat.
