Rb Leipzig hint that Keita actually does have a selling price… this summer

We’re as fed up writing the names ‘Naby Keita’ and Ralf Rangnick’ as you are most likely of reading them – but found it hard not to write this article after reading Rb Leipzig’s Sporting Director’s latests quotes on his star player…

Rangnick has confirmed that we lodged two official bids for the Guinean and phoned Rb’s offices in between, claiming that his club never had plans to sell…

But interestingly, he added that if an offer of €70-€80m came in, his club would at least ‘weigh it up,’ considering Keita’s £48m release clause which becomes active next summer…

“There were two offers from Liverpool and in between times also a telephone call between the clubs,” Rangnick said. “But not between me and Jurgen Klopp.

“For us, it was always clear that we would not give Naby Keita. That is why there was no direct contact.

“Every club that has sporting ambitious would have done the same as we did.

“But we must weigh it up. If we let Keita go for €70-80m this year, what more would that bring us compared to the sum we would get next year?”

We were consistently told Liverpool were willing to go up to €70-80m for Keita, but previously Rangnick suggested that no price would tempt Rb to sell…

Perhaps Liverpool should weigh in with the €80m that’s burning a hole in our pocket and test Rb’s mettle!

After all, for all the talk – we’ve made just two official bids for Keita and none for Virgil van Dijk.

FSG need to put their money where there mouth is.
