Andrew Robertson enjoyed a solid Premier League debut for Liverpool on Saturday as he helped his side to a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace.
The Scotsman didn’t disappoint on his first league start for the Reds, impressing as an attacking outlet and playing a key role in his new team’s first clean sheet of the season.
It hasn’t been a straight forward situation for Robertson since his move from Hull City, with Alberto Moreno surprisingly winning a place as the starting left-back on the opening day trip to Watford, despite previously looking destined to leave the club.
As far as Robertson is concerned, it was worth the wait- especially with so much talent playing ahead of him.
“It was great. When I got told I was getting the nod and then you start thinking about playing at Anfield and in front of the fans – you can’t quite imagine it until you’re out there but it was different class,” he told Liverpoolfc.com.
“At times they were frustrated but so were we and it was important we stuck together, which we did.”

“It’s brilliant when you get the ball and you look up and you’ve got Sadio, Roberto, Studge in the first half and Mo came on with big Dom – it’s great to have the options.”
“You know they’re going to make good runs and you know when they get a chance they should put it away and Sadio’s in great form just now, everything he hits seems to go in, so hopefully that continues and everyone else can start pitching in with goals.”
At first glance, he looked a natural fit to Liverpool’s setup and immediately showcased the attacking ambition fans have been keen to see.
He didn’t refrain from overlapping his teammates or occupying positions in the opposition half for prolonged periods of the game, but also turned a necessary focus towards his defensive responsibilities.
A consistency of dangerous crosses proved to be a standout feature to his display and one that introduced a fresh and potentially alternative approach. Something the likes of Dominic Solanke and Divock Origi may be able to benefit from, not to mention the Reds centre-backs in set piece scenarios.
Another promising start for one of Liverpool’s summer signings.
