The risky step Coutinho could take next to force Barca move

Philippe Coutinho could intensify his own attempts to force through a transfer to Barcelona having been so far halted by Liverpool’s stern stance.

The Brazilian has made his desire to join the Catalan giants clear by handing in a formal transfer request and supposedly pleading for his dream move to the Nou Camp.

His efforts have been to no avail, however, with Liverpool rejecting three bids of £72million, £90million and, most recently, an offer worth up to £118million.

The position of owners Fenway Sports Group has not changed- he is not for sale at any price.

There are now fears that Coutinho could go public with his wish to leave the club by voicing his frustrations to the press, according to ESPN.

This would become a possibility were Liverpool to reject the £138million Barcelona are reportedly set to return with as their last-ditch fourth offer.

Anything Coutinho does to try and push for a move is likely to be in vain, with the Reds unlikely to budge from their approach so late on in the transfer window.

There is also the chance Barca may not return for a fourth time, given reports that they are closing in on Borussia Dortmund’s Ousmane Dembélé and supposedly also Paris Saint-Germain’s Angel Di Maria.

Coutinho taking his opinion to the media could prove to be a risky step and one that will not only have little impact on his chances of a deal but also potentially anger the Reds fans he will soon be playing in front of again.
