Chelsea and Man Utd join battle to sign Liverpool star

If you thought the transfer rumours were going to end after Thursday’s deadline, you were mistaken.

As far as stories go, the latest to emerge from Italy is up there with the most surprising and quite possibly the most unlikely.

With Liverpool looking to move on from Philippe Coutinho’s push for a move to Barcelona, the club is now supposedly faced with a similarly difficult task of keeping Emre Can.

Juventus have made their interest in the German no secret since the end of last season, with the Italian giants keen to pounce on his stalling contract negotiations.

In a new twist, Manchester United, Chelsea and Bayern Munich have now expressed an interest in the midfielder, according to Tuttosport.

Though the latest report reeks of nonsense, it does reaffirm the risk Liverpool face of losing Can when his contract runs out next summer.

It won’t be the fear of losing him without receiving a fee that will worry the club, but instead the prospect of losing a player growing in importance to Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Can appears to have picked up where he left off last season, starting the new campaign in inspired form and making it easy to see why he is attracting interest from across Europe.

A priority away off the pitch is tying the 23-year-old down to a new long-term deal as soon as possible.

This club doesn’t need any more transfer troubles than it already has.
