LFC tried to sign world-class Bayern Munich ace [27] this summer

Bayern Munich are considering offloading Thomas Muller, their 27-year-old who could become the World Cup’s highest ever scorer next summer.

The German is on 12 goals, four behind countryman Miroslav Kloser, who currently holds the record.

Despite Muller’s pedigree and the fact he’s entering his prime years, he’s fallen down Carlo Ancelotti’s pecking order.

The forward couldn’t get in the side on either flank last term, due to Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery, while Robert Lewandowski was the automatic pick centrally. As a result, he notched just nine goals in all competitions and has started this campaign on the bench as well.

According to Sport Bild, Liverpool were one four top European clubs, including Juventus, Chelsea and Arsenal to enquire as to Muller’s availability.

Upon hearing he wasn’t for sale, we moved for Mo Salah instead and the pacy Egyptian has taken the Premier League by storm, scoring twice already.

Now though, Ancelotti is considering selling Muller unless his form dramatically improves. However, he’s very unlikely to move in January so any prospective deal would have to wait until next summer.

Muller’s similar to Roberto Firmino in skill-set. He has no fixed position or pace, but is a threat due to his cleverness and tenacity.

For now though, we’ll watch his progress (or lack of) from afar.
