What Ben Woodburn did to Sevilla’s youth team last night…

We had a feeling Ben Woodburn would be too good for the UEFA Youth League, and last night, he proved us right.

The 17-year-old is playing under Steven Gerrard in the competition this season, with Jurgen Klopp and Liverpool’s coaching staff keen to get the Welshman playing all levels of football: U19, U23 and first-team.

(He’s already scoring and assisting goals at international level, of course!)

Against Sevilla at Prenton Park, Woodburn took the mickey…

Playing on the right-wing, the teenager orchestrated proceedings and was head and shoulders above everyone else on the pitch in Liverpool’s 4-0 win.

He was involved in all Liverpool’s goals, two of which were assists in a comfortable Man of the Match performance.

Later on, Gerrard moved Woodburn to central midfield, from where he showed a metronomic ability to tick over possession.

At 17, there’s no harm in Woodburn playing these kind of fixtures, but we’re hoping to see him in the League Cup in a week’s time.

Klopp will surely rotate to keep legs fresh for the Premier League and the prodigy can expect a spot on the left flank in our 4-3-3.
