Coutinho too embarrassed (or not allowed) to speak to Brazilian reporter

Brazilian outlet UOL sent a reporter all the way to Anfield for our Champions League tie with Sevilla on Wednesday night, with the hope he’d break Coutinho’s silence.

Our playmaker hasn’t spoken to the media for months and months now, long before his transfer request and certainly not after it.

Coutinho was applauded onto the pitch by Liverpool’s supporters, which many quietly think was undeserved, but UOL claim he was unresponsive after the game and made his escape without speaking to them.

He was ‘escorted’ out of the stadium by a Liverpool press officer and looked ’embarrassed’ when asked to speak says the Brazilian report, translated for us by Sports Witness.

This looks to us like it’s a club decision that Coutinho isn’t doing interviews, so the player shouldn’t be blamed for it.

Having said that, we’d like him to come out and tell supporters he’s going to give it his all for the campaign – having missed the transfer to Barcelona.

Perhaps Liverpool are waiting for him to settle back into the starting XI.

For now, the wait continues.
