Jurgen Klopp has lavished praise on Alberto Moreno, who’s enjoying an unexpected Liverpool revival.
The Spaniard is definitely first-choice left-back right now, having impressed during pre-season and provided a largely positive influence in the six matches he’s played so far this campaign.

Against Sevilla on Wednesday, he did superbly for our first goal and could have had one himself – although there were still suggestions he could have done better for their opener.
Klopp has hit back at the ‘90%’ who considered him not good enough, while suggesting he finds it hard to pick a backup for the bench, as James Milner is training for midfield now – not left-back.
“It is difficult with the full-backs,” Klopp told yesterday’s press-conference, cited by IBTimes. “Andy Robertson is not often in the squad. He played against Palace, it is so difficult to leave him out, but Alberto Moreno, probably 90% of the people doubted him but he played outstandingly offensively and defensively against Sevilla. That is the situation. When we have no second left-back [on the bench] and we have to make a change, he [Milner] would be the left-back without training in this position because James plays in all the sessions in midfield.”
If you’d have told us following the Europa League Final that at the beginning of the 2017/18 campaign, Moreno would still be Liverpool’s left-back, we’d have laughed in your face.
The 25-year-old has undeniably matured and improved though, but is it enough to make him a solid long-term option…?
We’re not sure.
What’s strange is that Robertson did so brilliantly on debut against Crystal Palace, but hasn’t been used since.
We’d very much like to see him on the field against Burnley today, but are not holding our breath.
