‘The beauty of playing for LFC’- Robertson puts positive spin on hectic schedule

Andrew Robertson has welcomed Liverpool’s busy schedule as an opportunity to respond quickly to the team’s recent struggles.

Saturday’s 1-1 draw to Burnley topped off a disappointing eight days for Jurgen Klopp’s men, who entered the game off the back of a frustrated 2-2 draw in their Champions League opener against Sevilla and last weekend’s 5-0 defeat to Manchester City.

Liverpool will be back in action as soon as Tuesday when they travel to face Leicester City in their Carabao Cup third round tie.

Robertson believes the quick turnaround gives his side a great chance to make amends and rebuild some confidence.

“Of course, that’s the beauty of football and especially playing for a top club like this then you’re playing Saturday, Tuesday, Saturday, Tuesday, and if you have a bad afternoon or a bad night then you’ve got time to put it right,” he told Liverpoolfc.com.

“We’ve got a game on Tuesday in the cup and then another league game against Leicester, so it’s important we get back to winning ways and this whole week we’ll be focusing on that.”

The midweek clash not only gives Jurgen Klopp a platform on which to make experimental changes to his team, but also represents a chance for the entire squad to move on from a lacklustre weekend.

Robertson will be hoping to retain his place in the starting lineup after finding himself behind Alberto Moreno in the pecking order for a lot of the season so far.

The trip to the King Power Stadium will also be a useful insight for Klopp ahead of Saturday’s corresponding league fixture.

With the games coming thick and fast, there’s no time to dwell on the team’s misfortunes.
