Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain didn’t enjoy the best full debut for Liverpool last night, and it’ll likely see him drop out of the team for the weekend trip to the same ground.

The Englishman started on the right wing, but missed a gilt-edged opportunity to give us an early lead and never recovered from that moment.

He gave the ball away sloppily and his end product was poor, but to make matters worse, a skewed cross-field pass that went out of play was shared by disappointed Liverpool fans and delighted Arsenal fans in equal measure towards the end of the 90.

It’s not been an easy start for the 24-year-old since his £35m move from the Emirates.

If only he’d have given us the lead against Leicester, the whole evening would have likely gone a lot differently, but success in football is often defined by a matter of inches.

We still back Ox to make it an Anfield. He may just have to wait a little while before his next start, with crucial Premier League and Champions League ties coming up.
