‘With time…’- Alexander-Arnold points out Liverpool’s damning problem

Trent Alexander-Arnold is positive things will begin to turn around for Liverpool amid a testing period for the club.

A difficult Tuesday night in Russia saw the Reds waste a host of chances as they drew 1-1 against Spartak Moscow, despite their overwhelming dominance.

For a team familiar with blowing opponents away with big scorelines, the recent lack of conviction has been an unusual feature.

The struggle in front of goal has also, in turn, seen familiar defensive frailties punished perhaps more than usual.

For Alexander-Arnold, it is simple- the goals have to return.

“Each game, we’re getting better and stronger – you can see that in our performances,” he told Liverpoolfc.com.

“It’s just the goals that are missing at the moment but with time they’ll come and we’ll get better and better.”

“We created a lot more chances than they did and had a lot more shots. We just couldn’t get that second goal. We’re disappointed going home.”

“We’ve got the quality in the team to keep going and keep getting better. Everyone is improving with every game and soon we’ll be a force.”

It was the touch of class from Sadio Mane and Philippe Coutinho for Liverpool’s goal that proved the Reds are still capable of producing a moment of magic from nothing.

The disappointment stems from just how many perfect counterattacking opportunities the team squandered, given how vital they are to Klopp’s approach.

Reds have to believe that the goals will never be too far away with a quartet of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, Coutinho and Mane.

Sunday’s trip to Newcastle is the next chance to get back on track and build some momentum ahead of the international break.
