Ryan Kent has backed himself to win the Bundesliga Young Player of the Year award during his loan spell at Freiburg.

The young Englishman was sent to Germany for the campaign by Jurgen Klopp, who knows manager Christian Streich is brilliant at nurturing talent.

So far this term, Kent has made three appearances from the bench, but is targeting a starting spot soon.

“I think I can be young player of the year here,” Kent told Paul Joyce in the Times. “At Freiburg?” “No, the Bundesliga,” he added!

During the summer friendlies, Kent did excellently and now has a chance to prove he has a future at Anfield long-term.

The 20-year-old is a skilful dribbler and can beat fullbacks at will when given the ball in a bit of space on the flank.

Hopefully, he can get himself in the first-choice XI soon.

Liverpool also have Divock Origi on loan in Germany, with the Belgian forward spending the campaign at Wolfsburg.

So far, he’s scored just once in his five starts, not the kind of form that will leave many Liverpool fans wishing he was still warming Klopp’s bench.
