Bobby Adekanye scored twice in Slovenia – while Herbie Kane and Liam Millar were also on the mark.

But Gerrard decided to praise our keeper Kamil Grabara, who actually made a mistake for the goal we conceded…

The young Pole stepped up to the plate after his error and saved a penalty as well as making other stops Gerrard’s described as ‘world-class’.

“I want to know if these players have got character and got guts,” he told the official website.

“Their goal came from nowhere against the run of play and it came from a mistake from our goalkeeper.

“As a goalkeeper, when you make a mistake the only thing you can do is make up for it, and he certainly did that in the second half and he made a couple of world-class stops and an excellent penalty save.

“They asked us a question going 1-0 up but we found the answers and we found them emphatically.”

The 18-year-old arrived at Kirby with a big reputation in 2016, after we acquired him from his local side Ruch Chorzow.

He stands at 6 ft. 3′ and could be destined for a serious career in the game if he develops as expected.

The goalkeeper position is one that requires experience usually, so it’ll be a long time until Grabara is considered for first-team duties.

His next target will be consistent game-time in the U23s.
