Amazing stat debunks Salah myth; LFC ace finishes better than Messi

‘Mo Salah is great, but he can’t finish!’

‘Imagine how many goals Salah would get if he could finish…’

‘Salah is the worst one-on-one finisher I’ve ever seen!’

We’re probably guilty of screaming all three of these at our brilliant summer signing this campaign.

But the Egyptian has ten goals in 16 starts for Liverpool, an extraordinary return from the £34m purchase.

And it turns out that despite fan rhetoric, his conversion rate so far is much better than some of the most clinical finishers in world football this term:

Football statistician Brundish has included international football as well, but even so, the results look impressive.

In the Premier League alone, his rate drops to 15% – which is still on par with the world-class strikers mentioned.

Obviously, Salah has missed lots of gilt-edged chances. We don’t need numbers to tell us this – we watch it every week!

But the fact he’s already on double figures for the campaign show he’s more than capable in front of goal.

If he converted every single score-able opportunity, we’d be looking at a player capable of racking up 50-goals a season and entering Ballon d’Or territory – so we should be very happy with how it’s currently going!
