Shock as four LFC rejects make Spain squad; Transfer mistakes made

While Liverpool fans were celebrating Alberto Moreno’s call-up to the Spain squad, a few missed some of the other names alongside him…

FOUR ex-Liverpool players have made Julien Lopetegui’s roster – all four of which were sold by us deemed not good enough.

Pepe Reina, Suso, Iago Aspas and even Luis Alberto have earned selections.

Reina keeps Napoli’s net and with the Italians top of Serie A, it’s no surprise our former goalie is named as David de Gea’s understudy. In truth, he would have done better than Simon Mignolet the past four years and we never should have got rid.

Suso has been providing consistent end product for AC Milan for some time now and already this term is on five goals and three assists.

Aspas has been a regular in the Spain squad for some time due to his goalscoring exploits at Celta Vigo. Infamous for being quite atrocious at Liverpool, Aspas is a surprisingly effective player.

Alberto is the one that surprises us most, though. The 25-year-old has become an automatic start for Lazio and has registered three goals and five assists in Serie A, finally finding somewhere he can fulfil his potential.

In total, Liverpool made little over £10m from these players, so it seems something at some stage, went wrong in how we handled them and then offloaded them.
