- Claims Kai Havertz visited Melwood denied
- German playmaker IS a Liverpool target though

Yesterday, we got very excited about a story in Football Whispers which suggested Kai Havertz had already visited Melwood ahead of a potential Liverpool transfer.
It claimed the 18-year-old had been met by Steven Gerrard, Coutinho and Jurgen Klopp in October during a secret visit to our facilities in which he was sold the Liverpool dream.
Havertz is incredibly highly rated and was just named by FourFourTwo as the 6th best teenager on the planet.
However, New York Times Chief Football Writer Rory Smith, someone with pretty high credibility, has unequivocally claimed this simply didn’t happen.
I’m not a regular, or even a particularly willing, bubble burster, but Kai Havertz didn’t visit Melwood last month.

Well, one of them is wrong…
We’d like it to be Smith, but our experience of this kind of thing suggests the bad news when it comes to Liverpool transfers is probably correct!
The Echo confirmed following the initial story last night that Liverpool are very much interested in the wonderkid, who reminds us at EOTK of Julian Draxler.
To be fair, it’s no surprise, considering when our scouts watched him for Germany Under-19s, he plundered four goals in a 5-1 win v Belarus last month.
