LFC fans in meltdown as German coach confirms: ‘He’s going to England’

Has Oliver Bierhoff just let out of the bag that Liverpool are signing Leon Goretzka in time for next season?

We think he just might have…

The 22-year-old midfielder is running his contract down at Schalke, meaning clubs from anywhere in Europe are allowed to freely offer him a contract on January 1 that would see him arriving in summer 2018.

Obviously though, discussions with these players are already going on secretly, just like the ones Juventus have had with Emre Can that will see our midfielder move to Italy on a Bosman in the same manner.

German coach Bierhoff has accidentally revealed that Goretzka has already decided on a move to England during a rant about the state of the Bundesliga!

“We feel that England, because of the amount of money you have with TV rights, young talented players like Leroy Sané and [Schalke’s] Leon Goretzka are moving to England and this is not good for our league but also for the quality of our game,” Bierhoff told reporters, cited in the Metro.

“We have to pay attention and invest again and again in the education of our coaches.”

Arsenal have also been mooted with an interest, but we reckon Klopp’s close ties to the German league and the fact we’ve already secured one of Schalke’s best players, Joel Matip, on a free, suggest we’re likely frontrunners.

A source has confirmed to us that we’re interested and with Can leaving, it seems a very likely bit of business to conclude.

Naturally, fans online are over the moon!
