Joe Gomez looked like a 50-cap seasoned international for England last night.
Our 20-year-old was rightly awarded Man of the Match following the 0-0 draw, all the more impressive considering he was up against a frontline which included Neymar, Gabriel Jesus and Liverpool teammate Coutinho.
What’s more, it was only his second England cap and his first start.
Time and time again, Gomez intercepted or blocked runs and tricks from Brazil’s sensational forwards.
In the transfer market, it would cost over £500m to buy all three, but against Liverpool’s prodigy and England’s defence, they couldn’t find the back of the net.
It’ll hopefully give Gomez enormous confidence for his return to Liverpool, where he’ll likely play right-back v Southampton at the weekend.
Another win and hopefully a clean-sheet would do very nicely.
