“He has everything you need”- Klopp tips LFC man as future England star

Jurgen Klopp is certain Dominic Solanke will be a regular for the England team in the future.

The striker earned a surprise call-up to Gareth Southgate’s squad for the recent friendly against Brazil, in which he came on in the 75th minute to make his senior debut.

His opportunity served as a deserved reward for his role in England’s U20 World Cup winning campaign earlier this year.

Solanke was awarded the Golden Ball as the tournament’s best player and has since established himself as a focal point in Aidy Boothroyd’s U21s.

Besides his talent on the ball, the 20-year-old’s dedication has been subject to high praise from his manager.

“Apart from his football skills, his character is absolutely outstanding,” Klopp told the Telegraph.

“He is doing so well and he will not be disappointed if he doesn’t start at the weekend.  He is really involved, an important member of the squad. That is what he wanted.”

“He wants to be closer. He can’t do it all by himself. Sometimes you need a little bit of luck. It hasn’t happened too often but I am really happy to have him here.”

Discussing Solanke’s England call-up, Klopp added: “It was a situation where a few players were missing but he will be a future player for England, 100 per cent.”

“He has got everything you will need. He has had a number of games but not always the starts. You saw in 15 minutes that he got involved immediately. That is him. And I am happy for him.”

First team minutes have been hard to come by for Solanke so far this season, with the former Chelsea man sitting behind the more experienced Roberto Firmino and Daniel Sturridge in the pecking order.

Nevertheless, several bright cameos have been a promising insight into the attacking versatility he will be capable of offering in the future.

Solanke has impressed with not only his sheer physicality, but also with an ability to create for his teammates and an intelligence to mix up his attacking movement.

An already-accomplished prospect is continuing to tease signs of becoming an inspired acquisition.
