We can confirm that Emre Can has no intention of renewing his deal with Liverpool.

The German isn’t extending the lease on his house, which indicates to us he’s not going to be living in the city from next summer onwards.

His contract expires in 2018 and has showed no signs of putting pen to paper.

Yesterday in his press-conference, Jurgen Klopp told the Echo he was still holding out hope of Can extending terms…

“He could still sign a contract in May. That’s how it is. Persuade him? That’s what we try to do all the time.

“We have to be as attractive as possible as a club so no-one wants to leave. That’s not changed.”

But the reality is something different.

Tuttosport are suggesting personal terms have already been agreed between Juventus and our German midfielder, although not officially as they’re only legally allowed to contact the 23-year-old in January.

Emre Can’s most famous moment for Liverpool was his bicycle kick v Watford last season.

As we know though, football doesn’t work like this and his representatives have no doubt been talking to the Serie A giants since early this year.

At EOTK, we’re almost resigned to losing Can for nothing, and have largely accepted it. He’s a good player and could be an exceptional one – but he’s not irreplaceable.

Leon Goretzka is available on a free as well and is regarded by many as the superior operator.

If we can snare him while losing Can, our midfield will be primed for next term with Naby Keita also arriving.
