Oxlade-Chamberlain: How I’ve improved from Arsenal days

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has spoken about his improving form and the manner in which he’s slowly settling into life at Liverpool.

The former Arsenal man couldn’t get into Jurgen Klopp’s side early on, but he’s started our past two matches on the right wing and did well in the draw against Chelsea and the Stoke win.

Jurgen Klopp let the Englishman adapt to his tactics on the training ground, but during this busy run of fixtures, we’re going to see plenty of the 24-year-old.

According to Ox, his fitness has improved and he feels more physically capable of fulfilling Klopp’s hefty running demands.

‘I think the more I play and the more consistently I play I’ll be physically fully up to speed with the demands, but I definitely feel that I’m in a really good place physically and I think I’ve made strides in that respect, with how intense the training is here and how demanding this manager is,’ Oxlade-Chamberlain told Liverpool’s official site.

‘I think I’ve definitely improved on that and I think I’ll keep improving with doing the things that he wants and keep practising the way he wants to train.

‘The more I play, obviously physically you adapt and get fitter and stronger, so I’ve definitely got an understanding of what’s needed now and how he wants the boys to play and specifically me in my position.’

The midfielder was branded a flop prematurely by many, but we think he’s actually a very valuable asset.

He’s quick, feisty and hard-working; traits which attracted Klopp to him in the first place.

At the moment, our first-choice XI doesn’t include Ox, but that’s only because of the brilliance of Mo Salah and Sadio Mane on the wings.

But with Liverpool set to play eight matches before the New Year, we reckon our £35m signing will start around half of them.
