LFC could sign unknown Egyptian CB to appease Mo Salah – Egyptian Reports

Liverpool have spoken to Mo Salah about the standard of his international team-mate Rami Rabia, who currently plies his trade for Egypt’s biggest team Al Alhy.

Multiple reports from Egypt, such as in large publication Soutalomma, are suggesting that Liverpool have turned our attention to Rabia after realising that West Brom have first option on Ahmed Hegazi, who’s on loan from the same club.

Hegazi has started this season and had impressed Jurgen Klopp, but Rabia would be more easily acquired.

We’re not going to pretend to know anything about Rabia in terms of his ability, but can tell you about his career to date.

He’s 24-years-old and a regular in the Egyptian team that’s qualified for the World Cup.

Rabia had a short spell in Europe between 2014 an 2015 with Sporting Lisbon, but only ever played for the B-Team and was sent back to Al Alhy after one season.

He’s obviously matured now, but there’s no evidence he’s the player ready to shore up Liverpool’s defence.

Fans would prefer Virgil van Dijk, but he’d be much more expensive, and if Rabia helps Salah stay at Anfield for many a year, then so be it!

A recognised centre-back would be required on top, you’d assume, if this report was true.

It’s also worth remembering that Klopp has a superb track record of buying unknowns and developing them into world-beaters. Robert Lewandowski, Shinji Kagawa, Ilkay Gundogan and Mats Hummels, to name but a few.
