Alberto Moreno thanked Liverpool’s fans last night for the rapturous ovation they gave him after he had to leave the field injured.
Anfield rose to salute the Spaniard, who bar his 15 minute horror-show against Sevilla, has been excellent this campaign – and it clearly meant a lot to Moreno – who cried while leaving the pitch.
What a night at Anfield 👏🏻👏🏻 Round of 16 🔴🔴 We deserve it guys 💪🏻💪🏻 Thanks to all the fans for the massive support tonight 🔝🔝 I hope to back soon and stronger 🙏🏻🙏🏻 #weareliverpool #anfield #reds #ynwa #amp18 pic.twitter.com/1s9B4oUnW1

Thankfully though, Moreno’s message suggests the injury isn’t serious, although we’d be surprised if he was ready for the Merseyside Derby on Sunday.
(Perhaps this is for the best anyway, due to his propensity to make poor decisions in emotional matches…)
In his place, Andrew Robertson or James Milner will start. Both are more than capable.
