‘It was strange…’ Klopp talks Moreno’s tears after injury, but delivers good news

Alberto Moreno left the field to a standing ovation against Spartak Moscow last night.

The left-back had injured his ankle in a clash with one of their attackers, and despite trying to run off the problem, could not.

The emotion of the occasion, and the fact he’s a very emotional player anyway, caused Moreno to cry as he exited – a sign of his immense passion to Liverpool’s cause and how hard he’s worked to resurrect his Anfield career.

After seeing his tears, Liverpool fans and Klopp alike both thought the player had suffered a serious injury – but thankfully it seems like he’s ok.

“It was a strange situation…” Klopp said after the game when asked about the seriousness of the Spaniard’s injury. “He is a tough guy and if he cannot continue the game, then you should consider it could be something serious. In the treatment room, he was a little bit more positive, so maybe we are lucky and it’s not too serious. We will see.”

We’d be surprised if Moreno was ready for Everton on Sunday though, so now Klopp has to decide whether to field James Milner, who did very well in his 45 minutes last night, or Andrew Robertson, who in fairness hasn’t done much wrong this season either.

Either way, we think Liverpool fans may realise how much Moreno has improved now he’s likely unavailable…
