When asked who will win the World Cup, the planet’s most expensive footballer Neymar reeled off a list of countries, before randomly stating that Mo Salah is brilliant!
The PSG superstar was being interviewed by Globo Esporte about next summer’s tournament in Russia and gave a relatively stock answer before surprisingly discussing Liverpool’s 20-goal forward.
“The most well-known selections are the title favourites always. In addition to Brazil, there’s Germany, Spain, France and Argentina,” he began.
“These selections are highlights in any championship, right? I think surprisingly, Belgium have a great team. But Salah is a great player and can make a difference in the World Cup.”
That’s some compliment!
Liverpool bought Salah for under £40m in the summer, but his value has rocketed to way over double that since, having taken both the Premier League and Champions League by storm.
While tearing up trees at club level under Jurgen Klopp’s guidance, Salah’s been doing the business for Egypt as well, almost singlehandedly securing them World Cup qualification for the first time since 1990.
They’ll face Russia, Saudi Arabia and Iran in 2018, which also gives them a realistic chance of group qualification.
