AS Monaco react to Liverpool’s Thomas Lemar interest…

Liverpool are very, very interested in Monaco’s Thomas Lemar, but signing him, in January at least, is going to be very difficult.

This is because Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev has claimed offloading Monaco’s biggest asset mid-season would be detrimental to a side who’ve recently shown serious improvement and are back up to 2nd in Ligue 1.

Yesterday, it was reported in the Independent that Lemar was Liverpool’s primary January transfer target and that the club is very keen on beating Arsenal to his signature.

“The sales of important players is not on the agenda. We have never spoken (to Lemar or his entourage) about the possibility of a January departure,” he said, reported in the Mirror

“Big departures never happen in January. The team needs stability. We have re-found a positive dynamic. Now is not the time to break it.”

Liverpool’s interest in Lemar is 100% certain, but Monaco proved stubborn in the summer regarding the 22-year-old, so this worries us.

Having said that, the France international isn’t exactly needed right now, with Liverpool well stocked in attack and scoring plenty.

Perhaps we can arrange a deal where we ‘sign’ Lemar now and he joins in the summer, much like we did with Naby Keita, to avoid a battle for his signature in the summer.
