‘Klopp’s very good…’ LFC want €15m German as immediate Mignolet replacement

Speculation is mounting that Liverpool are interested in PSG’s sub keeper Kevin Trapp, Goal report, who are claiming he’s available for €15m.

The 27-year-old currently cannot get a game for the French, with manager Unai Emery preferring Alphonse Areola.

As a result, Trapp’s agent Jorg Neubauer has said he’ll do everything he can to get his client out of Paris as soon as possible, with the January transfer window opening in less than a week.

“If there’s a chance in the winter, Kevin wants to leave Paris,” Neubauer told Sport 1.

“If you want to go to the World Cup, you have to be playing. We’ll see what happens,” he said.

Last month, Trapp spoke up the possibility of signing for Liverpool, a club whose manager he mightily respects.

“It’s an amazing club with a great tradition. And of course, I’m a fan of the Premier League,” he told ESPN.

“The Reds are not without interest, they have already won many titles, and Jurgen Klopp is, of course, a very good coach.”

Liverpool currently have Simon Mignolet as first-choice, with Loris Karius deputising. The Belgian made a horrible error against Arsenal on Friday though and there are doubts his understudy is up to scratch.

We also have Danny Ward in reserve, but Klopp has so far used the Welshman just once, indicating he perhaps doesn’t rate him especially highly.

At EOTK, we think Klopp should have signed an elite keeper a long time ago, but are not sure if Trapp’s the solution.

From what we’ve seen of him, he’s not an upgrade on our current trio.
