LFC offer Coutinho permanent captaincy & massive contract – Report

Liverpool are so desperate to keep Coutinho that Jurgen Klopp has told him he’ll make him the permanent club captain if he stays at Anfield.

Mundo Deportivo are claiming that we’ve also offered the Brazilian an enormous new contract in an attempt to encourage him to stay amid constant interest from Barcelona.

However, the source has suggested Coutinho’s basically told Liverpool ‘thanks, but no thanks,’ reiterating his desire to leave.

Mundo Deportivo are a very unreliable outlet so we’re skeptical over whether they’re making this up, but it would make complete sense for Liverpool to do everything they can to keep the no.10 at the club.

He should be offered a new deal and the permanent captaincy, in all honesty – he’s one of the best players in the world right now and losing him is going to be devastating.

But despite the constant speculation, we just can’t see Liverpool selling him this January.

Perhaps we’re being naive, but why would the club stubbornly refuse to even enter negotiations in the summer to just relent in the winter?

It would make no sense not to wait until the end of the season.
