Eagle-eyed LFC fans spot something strange in Coutinho announcement video

Whether it was over-confidence or simply jumping the gun, it looks as though Barcelona thought they had a deal for Philippe Coutinho back in August.

The Spanish outfit released an announcement video for our former Brazilian magician on Saturday, as he sealed a £142m exit from Anfield, as noted by BBC Sport.

Given that the transfer saga had rumbled on from last summer, the fact that it’s finally over may well come to a relief to many Reds fans as we can now move forward and focus on strengthening our squad.

However, it looks as though Barca thought they had sealed the deal in August, as seen via the Liverpool faithful in the tweets below, who had a close look at the now standard social media post confirming the arrival of a new player.

It looks as though they compiled and recorded the video in August, as August 8 can be seen as the date of Coutinho’s last Facebook post, while when they cut to the Instagram section, the last post seen uploaded of Ousmane Dembele was posted on August 30.

Coupled with the farcical way in which Nike seemingly announced the deal just over a week ago, it seems a little unprofessional all round from the Spanish side, as their star names regularly discussed Coutinho with the media too.

However, they eventually got their man, and we can only hope that £142m is put to good use to help make us a stronger unit and to put the pieces in place for a long-term plan of success to build on the positives this season.
