Agent responds to speculation linking Liverpool with new GK

Having brought in Virgil van Dijk to help shore things up at the back, there’s still an area of the Liverpool squad that is arguably still causing some debate.

That’s regarding the man between the posts, with Simon Mignolet and Loris Karius having to deal with their fair share of pressure and scrutiny.

Speculation has linked us with a move for Roma goalkeeper Alisson, but as reported by Calciomercato, his agent has suggested that we’ve not made contact with the Serie A outfit or the shot-stopper over a transfer.

“Nobody from Liverpool has talked to me about a deal. I prefer not to say anything,” Ze Maria Neis is quoted as saying.

The 25-year-old has impressed in Italy this season after initially arriving from Internacional in 2016, as he’s kept 12 clean sheets in 25 appearances in all competitions, which has helped them secure the second best defensive record in Serie A.

Capable of making great saves, commanding in the box and comfortable with the ball at his feet, it would seemingly be a great signing for us. Time will tell if we do make contact to begin discussions as the speculation suggested we may already have, but it would for many fans sort out another contentious area of our squad.

With some money to seemingly spend at least after the sale of Philippe Coutinho, it remains to be seen if Jurgen Klopp decides to act in the January transfer window or show faith in his current options, and perhaps revisit it in the summer.
